The company thoroughly demoed the Apple Watch on stage during the event, although it never revealed all the specs for the device. Here’s what we do know about the smartwatch when it comes to its hardware.

Apple plans to launch the Apple Watch starting in early 2015, although the company still has to reveal many other details about the device, such as screen size, on-board memory and battery life to name just a few.

Apple Watch introduces a revolutionary design and iOS-based user interface created specifically for a smaller device. Apple Watch is an extremely accurate timepiece that’s also customizable for personal expression. Apple Watch includes a groundbreaking Activity app designed to help motivate you to be more active throughout the day, and an all-new Workout app designed to provide the metrics you need during dedicated workout sessions. Pricing & Availability

Apple Watch will be available in three collections. Apple Watch, with a polished or space black stainless steel case and a choice of straps; Apple Watch Sport, with a space gray or silver anodized aluminum case and Sport Band; and Apple Watch Edition, with an 18-karat rose or yellow gold case and a choice of straps exclusive to this collection. Apple Watch straps include the Sport Band in black, blue, green, pink and white; the Classic Buckle in black and midnight blue; the Leather Loop in bright blue, light brown and stone; the Modern Buckle in midnight blue, brown, soft pink, rose gray and bright red; the Milanese Loop in stainless steel; and the Link Bracelet in brushed stainless steel and polished space black. It’s a big day for Samsung. The Korean manufacturer launched its much-hyped Galaxy Note 4 smartphone, along with plenty of other gadgets, on Wednesday at the IFA 2014 tech conference in Berlin. The Mashable team was there, and also on hand for Samsung's simultaneous event in New York City.

Samsung was clearly busy getting a bunch of gadgets ready for primetime at this year's IFA expo. The UNPACKED event delivered the long-rumored Samsung Galaxy Note 4, but the the cameo appearances were equally compelling. The Koreans managed to surprise everyone with a brand new Galaxy Edge, the Gear VR goggles were unveiled as well, and we saw the Gear S in action. Quite an eventful press conference indeed.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 boasts a 5.7" QHD Super AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 805 chipset, a 16MP OIS rear camera, metal framing, leather-like rear finish, new S-Pen features, among others. Sounds like an impressive upgrade but Samsung didn't stop there.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be available, starting from October and there is no official word on the pricing just yet. The phablet will up for grabs in frosted white, charcoal black, bronze gold and blossom pink color options.


Samsung has finally utilized the arched display we'd been catching rumors of for months. This is the highlight of the brand new Galaxy Note Edge. It has the same specs as the Note 4, but its display continues bending on the right side of the phone with additional 160px. This should make the Note Edge the smartphone with the highest resolution screen to date.

Apple invited media to a “special event” in its hometown of Cupertino, California, on Sep 9, when the iPhone maker is expected to unveil the latest versions of its best-selling smartphones.

Apple’s typically cryptic invitation read: “Wish we could say more.” It came on a simple black-and-white background dominated by the company’s familiar corporate logo. Apple is also expected to announce the iWatch at the event.

The launch date had been widely reported. Apple was expected to unveil larger 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens for iPhones, a move thought to be driven in part by the success of larger devices by rival Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. Tech blog Re/code also reported Apple may introduce its long-awaited smartwatch.

Apple has been discussing its “HealthKit” data service with health providers and apps developers, people familiar with the discussions say. They said HealthKit, while still nascent, will become the lynchpin in a broader push into mobile and digital healthcare, a fertile field that rivals Google and Samsung are also exploring.

Shares in Apple have rallied in past months in anticipation of the event. On Thursday, they were up 0.4 percent at $102.55 in afternoon trade.
