Yahoo Mail Adds Dropbox Attachment Support
Yahoo just announced a new partnership with Dropbox that lets you attach files stored with the popular cloud service to outbound emails. The company is touting the integration as yet another way it's making the email experience simpler for customers.

Additionally, Dropbox users can choose to save email attachments directly to the cloud — no local storage necessary. Dropbox support is available now for the web version of Yahoo Mail in English, French, Spanish, German and Italian. For larger attachments, you can simply drag and drop the attachments into your e-mail but can send it via Dropbox.
Mozilla and Samsung Collaborate on Next Generation Web Browser Engine
Servo is an attempt to rebuild the Web browser from the ground up on modern hardware, rethinking old assumptions along the way. This means addressing the causes of security vulnerabilities while designing a platform that can fully utilize the performance of tomorrow’s massively parallel hardware to enable new and richer experiences on the Web. To those ends, Servo is written in Rust, a new, safe systems language developed by Mozilla along with a growing community of enthusiasts.
We are now pleased to announce with Samsung that together we are bringing both the Rust programming language and Servo, the experimental web browser engine, to Android and ARM. In the coming year, we are racing to complete the first major revision of Rust – cleaning up, expanding and documenting the libraries, building out our tools to improve the user experience, and beefing up performance. At the same time, we will be putting more resources into Servo, trying to prove that we can build a fast web browser with pervasive parallelism, and in a safe, fun language.
This is an exciting step in the evolution of both projects that will allow us to start deeper research with Servo on mobile. Samsung has already contributed an ARM backend to Rust and the build infrastructure necessary to cross-compile to Android, along with many other improvements. You can try this now by downloading the code from Github, but it’s just the beginning.

BSNL Internet Running at Less Than 80% Capacity Due to Under-Sea Cable Cuts
According to a story by NDTV, it’s still not clear if the cable cuts have resulted in sub-par Internet connectivity for BSNL users since the BSNL customers we spoke to did not notice any anomalies in Internet speeds and connectivity. BSNL has released a statement revealing that its Internet capacity has dropped by 21% thanks to fiber cuts in three undersea cables that are responsible for global connectivity.
Two of the undersea cables that suffered from cuts are managed by Tata Communications- the IWEWE cable system connects India to Europe via the Middle East and the SMW4 cable system connects South East Asia to Europe. In a statement, Tata Communications confirmed the cable cut and said that some customers could have noticed service disruptions last Wednesday.
Global Market For Cyber Security Solution to Reach $870 Million by 2017: IDC
Research firm IDC points out at a sharp
surge in the number of cyberattacks on websites of leading financial
firms and other important organisations last year. IDC says
cybercriminals are exploiting thousands of networked PCs (botnets) to
'jam' a website by directing massive traffic to it, leading it to crash.
IDC
adds such incidents have propelled the demand for proactive solutions
worldwide. The research firm predicts global market for cyber security
solutions will grow to $870 million by 2017.
“The worldwide market for DDoS
prevention solutions will grow by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR)
of 18.2 per cent from 2012 through 2017 and reach $870 million,”
Christian Christiansen added.
IDC also expresses concern over possible
growth in DDoS attacks due to expansion of cloud services and mobile
networks. Measures such as firewalls, intrusion protection and others
could reduce low-level threats, but attacks in large volume could be
dangerous as these might not be able to differentiate between legitimate
and illegitimate traffic.
A recent joint report by IDC and
Microsoft had pointed out that malware found in pirated software is
likely to have a massive impact on the time and money of consumers and
enterprises in the near future. The study said the computer users will
spend 1.5 billion hours and $22 billion on determining, repairing and
recovering from the impact of malware.
