The wait is finally over for the Indian fans of Samsung smartphones who are eagerly waiting for the Galaxy SIII launch in the country. The Korean company reportedly confirms the May 31 date for the launch of SIII.

The smartphone has been touted as the biggest competitor to the iPhone and is available in three variants-16GB, 32GB, 64GB. The SIII has some interesting features such as zero shutter lag, voice control system and 'more intelligent' lock system that keeps the screen awake by sensing the user's eyes. The Galaxy S III is powered by Ice Cream Sandwich Android operating software and comes with a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED screen, 16/32GB storage, 8 megapixel rear camera and a 1.9 megapixel front camera and is only 8.6 mm thick.

The company has not yet unveiled any pricing details of the smartphone, however, unconfirmed reports say that SIII would come be priced between Rs 42,000-45,000.

Microsoft has announced a Windows 8 upgrade program for customers who purchase a Windows 7-based PC from June 2012 until February 2013.

Starting tomorrow in 131 markets, including the U.S., consumers who buy a Windows PC pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate, will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $14.99. The standard 90 days of support from Microsoft is also included in the offer. To be eligible for the upgrade program, users must purchase a new Windows 7 PC from June 2, 2012 to Jan. 31, 2013, and redeem it before the end of February 2013.

Third-party apps like HootSuite just got a little less relevant with an update from Facebook that lets Page admins schedule posts. A new help center page from Facebook also outlines how brand pages can now dole out specific duties to multiple page admins, each with varying degrees of permissions.

PepsiCo is joining forces with Twitter to extend the reach of their current “Live for Now” promotion. “Live for Now” is a musical platform that resides at Pepsi.Com and offers live music from some of today’s biggest pop performers. Launched on May 7th, the platform also features breaking entertainment and pop culture news. The idea behind the behind the new promotion is to position Pepsi products alongside other popular culture icons.

The “Live for Now Music” initiative is an extension of Pepsi’s recently launched “Live for Now” global campaign, will offer free music downloads, music videos and a series of pop-up concerts this summer and fall. Every Wednesday for the next 52 weeks, Pepsi will offer videos providing an overview of the artists, music and music news trending on Twitter that week.

In addition, @pepsi will offer free downloads from the Amazon MP3 store for fans who follow the brand on Twitter and use the hashtag #PepsiMusicNOW in their tweets. The brand will also use Twitter to announce pop-up concerts, which it will offer on-demand afterward for fans who want to watch it later. Twitter, which makes most of its money from advertising, is poised to post ad revenues of $259.9 million this year, according to eMarketer.

Starting in 2003, the iconic Apple co-founder and former CEO sat with the Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher for six interviews at the annual southern California tech and business event. On the social good end, Geer is ultimately curating a list of around 30 partners doing good all over the country. “We’ll always try to keep it a short list, but we have a good relationship with each of these causes, and we want to have a good feedback loop with each of them,” Geer says. CauseCart is preparing for a soft-launch in June with its Chrome extension, with a bigger push and a Firefox option in the near future. Geer says he’s hoping that this model will positively reinforce all users to give in a new and innovative way.

As rumored, Flipboard for Android will first become available on Samsung Galaxy S III devices, which are expected to arrive in the U.S. any week now. The app will come pre-loaded on some devices, depending on the carrier, and be made available for other Android devices later this summer.

What’s the address? is a simple tool that can help you find the approximate address of any point on Google Maps.

All you have to do is drag the red marker pin to another location and the approximate snail address of that place should pop-up in a marker window. You can also search for the street name, city or zip code to quickly jump to any particular location on the map.

The tool internally uses the reverse geocoding feature of the Google Maps API. When you click a point on the map, the latitude and longitude co-ordinates of that place are translated into a human-readable address which is what you see on the map. The UI was written using the Twitter’s Bootstrap framework.

Most people thus rely on password management software that encrypt and store all your passwords in a database which is protected by a single password. You enter that master password and you instantly have access to all your stored user logins and passwords.

There’s however another solution as well that will help you generate unique passwords for all your online accounts but without storing the passwords anywhere – neither online nor on your computer. It’s called Password Chameleon.

With Password Chameleon, all you have to do is remember one master password. You enter the site’s domain name (say gmail.com) and your master password (say He!!0WorId) and tool will instantly create a password by mashing these two strings. Every time you enter your master password and the web domain, the tool will generate the same password.

The good thing is that passwords are generated locally on your computer and while all your online accounts will have unique passwords, you will have to remember just one master password. Also, Password Chameleon uses the SHA-1 Algorithm to generate your passwords (aka hashes) and it impossible to decrypt the master password from the generated hashes.

Amid falling tariffs and increasing popularity of 3G services, Canadian handset maker Research in Motion on Friday launched 3G-compatible BlackBerry Curve 9320 smartphone priced at Rs 15,990 in the country.

The new smartphone features all the core BlackBerry messaging and social-centric features that keep people connected and offers global 3G connectivity, RIM said in a statement. Based on the BlackBerry 7.1 operating system, the handset also comes with a built-in FM radio and a better battery life, which offers customers up to 7 hours of talk time. The integrated camera includes a flash and supports video recording.

Recently, Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular have slashed 3G prices by up to 70 per cent, while Reliance Communications also joined the league on Friday to cut prices by up to 61 per cent from their existing rates.

Facebook may be gearing up to launch its first-ever smartphone by next year, a new report suggests.
According to The New York Times, engineers have been sought by recruiters to work on building hardware for a Facebook smartphone. This would be the social network’s third attempt to develop a smartphone, the report said, citing sources close to the matter.

The news comes as search engine giant Google completed the acquisition of Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion earlier this week. This move could help Facebook counter that with its own foray into the smartphone hardware business.

Sometimes the EXIF data embedded in an image file can help you determine the location but there’s another alternative that is more likely to work. You probably know that Google offers Similar Image search to help discover images that are visually similar to your source image. The same feature of Google Images can sometimes help you uncover the location of a photograph as well.

Go to images.google.com and drag* any image – either from your desktop or another web page – to the search box (see video for a quick demo). If that photograph is of some popular destination, Google will mention the possible location of that image above the search results (see screenshot). In all other cases, you will at least know the original source of that image and that could offer enough hints for you to guess the actual location on your own.

LG has announced a new 5-inch smartphone display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and a whopping 440ppi pixel density. The display is based on AH-IPS (Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching) technology, which — claims LG — offers high color fidelity, wide viewing angles, stable image and rapid response speed when touched.

Although the iPhone 4/4S’ Retina display is not the highest pixel density smartphone display around any more, it’s definitely the display that started the pixel density craze, with smartphone manufacturers racing to squeeze more pixels into their devices’ screens.
  Its insanely high resolution, coupled with a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio which makes it ideal for viewing video content, will set a high bar for other manufacturers to reach. The display is expected to be released during the second half of this year.
