Apple has launched its new lineup of iMac and Mac mini desktops, and 13-inch MacBook Pro laptops in India. The new generation of devices is thinner and more powerful than the last, with much upgraded hardware. All three devices ship with Mac OS X Mountain Lion.
The new 13-inch MacBook Pro features a high-resolution (2,560x1600 pixel – 227ppi) Retina Display, made out of an 13.3-inch IPS panel with a viewing angle of 178 degrees, as well as 75 percent less reflection and 29 percent higher contrast than the previous generation. It is just 0.75-inches thick (20% thinner than its predecessor), and weighs in at 1.62 kgs. It ships only with flash storage options, up 8GB of RAM, and up to Intel Core i7 (Ivy Bridge) processors.

Boasting of dedicated Nvidia GeForce GPUs, it comes with 8GB of 1600MHz
DDR3 RAM and a 1TB hard drive as standard. Users can configure up to
32GB of RAM, and up to a 3TB hard drive, or 768GB of flash storage. A
Fusion Drive option is also available (flash storage + conventional hard
drive). The new iMac is available in two screen sizes – 21.5-inch, and
27-inch. They feature two Thunderbolt and four USB 3.0 ports. The new Mac mini
is available with Ivy Bridge dual-core Intel Core i5 and quad-core
Intel Core i7 processors, which offer up to 65 percent better
performance than predecessors. It comes standard with 4GB of 1600MHz
DDR3 RAM, with support for up to 16GB. The compact aluminum design now
includes four USB 3.0 ports in addition to its Thunderbolt, HDMI, SDXC,
Gigabit Ethernet, and FireWire 800 ports.
The 21.5-inch iMac is available with a
2.7 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.2 GHz
and NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M for a suggested retail price of Rs. 85,900
inclusive of VAT; and with a 2.9 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo
Boost speeds up to 3.6 GHz and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M for a suggested
retail price of Rs. 99,900 inclusive of VAT. The 21.5-inch iMac will be
available in November through Apple Authorized Resellers.
The 27-inch iMac is available with a 2.9
GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.6 GHz and
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M for a suggested retail price of Rs. 1,22,900
inclusive of VAT ; and with a 3.2 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo
Boost speeds up to 3.6 GHz and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX for a suggested
retail price of Rs. 1,34,900 inclusive of VAT. The 27-inch iMac will be
available in December through Apple Authorized Resellers.
The Mac mini is available with a 2.5 GHz
dual-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1 GHz, 4GB of
memory and a 500GB hard drive for a suggested retail price of Rs. 39,900
inclusive of VAT; a 2.3 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 with Turbo Boost
speeds up to 3.3 GHz, 4GB of memory and a 1TB hard drive for a suggested
retail price of Rs. 52,900 inclusive of VAT; and a 2.3 GHz quad-core
Intel Core i7 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3 GHz, OS X Server, 4GB of
memory and two 1TB hard drives for a suggested retail price of Rs.
65,900 inclusive of VAT. The Mac mini is available today through Apple
Authorized Resellers.
