A Chrome extension called PrivacyFix will walk you through your privacy settings and let you make changes so advertisers cannot track what you do on the web in order to make ad revenue. It also ensures that friends you’re connected to through social networks cannot accidentally pass along your information to companies.
PrivacyFix blocks tracking on more than 1,000 sites, with emphasis on Facebook and Google. The extension will show you your privacy settings on a dashboard, and let you decide what you want to share and what you want to keep private. You can change your settings with the click of a button — just click “fix” on the site and it explains in plain English what this setting allows. You know those Facebook like buttons you see at the top of unrelated webpages? PrivacyFix will let you disable those. You can also protect your data from Facebook’s offline tracking.
