The Skully AR-1 helmet uses a compound of
sensors, microprocessors, and a camera, in order to deliver a Heads Up
Display with turn-by-turn navigation. The GPS navigation will be
available in all countries. Users will be able to download maps to store
on the helmet and save them for offline or without being connected to a
smartphone.
The information will appear in a way
that makes it seem as if the information is 10 feet away from the user.
This system, named the Synapse platform offers automatic infinitely
variable focal distance which means that the GPS will be clear
regardless of where the rider is looking. The HUD may seem like it would just distract the user, but the HUD also
shows an 180-degree view of what’s going on behind the rider and within
his left and right blind spots. The rear view camera of the Skully AR-1 will probably be the most-anticipated feature of the Skully AR-1. The rear view camera will continuously display itself in the comer of the HUD. The rear view camera on the Skully AR-1 will is digitally adjustable by using the Skully smartphone app so that you can align it based on your preferred riding position.
According to Skully,”The transparent display appears outside the rider’s primary field of view and appears to float in the distance. This means you can see the road ahead without any obstruction from the display. This display system simplifies the riding experience because you no longer need to take your eyes off the road to see what is around you or to find your route. With our optical technology, the display is always in focus no matter where you look, allowing instant comprehension of the information.”
The company calls this the 'World's smartest motorcycle helmet'. It runs on Android and can pair with your phone through Bluetooth, allowing you to play music, take calls, navigate and go online, using only voice commands. Information is projected onto the helmet’s visor, along with a rear view display. It has an ultra-wide angle rear view camera attached to the back that projects what is behind you onto the rear view screen. The price of the helmet will go up to $1,499 (Rs. 91,581 approximately) after it is launched, which means that you can save $100 (Rs. 6,000 approximately) by ordering it now. The device had been put up on Indiegogo for a crowdfunding campaign and has reached almost triple its target, with $800,000 amassed so far. It is DOT/ECE certified and has a fog, scratch and glare resistant visor.
