On Saturday, whole world celebrated Social Media Day. With hundreds of local events and thousands of attendees, the day was a win for all.
From day-long conferences to nighttime networking parties, people recognized the digital revolution in a variety of ways. But all events had one thing in common: celebrating online communities offline.
Meetups took place in all corners of the world. Some of the most well-attended events occurred in Morocco, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and the United States, including San Diego and Cincinnati. Eight cities and two U.S. states officially declared June 30 as Social Media Day this year, making a total of 17 cities and three states that recognize the day.
