State-run telecom operator MTNL has announced a new service that allows one to get a landline, mobile or broadband connection by sending an SMS or via submitting the request online. To submit the request, users need to send an SMS to 9868552121 from their mobile phone (any operator). The service is available round the clock and even on holidays. Users will be charged as per normal SMS rate of the operator. MTNL Dolphin users can also use this service on short code 52121, which is toll free.

"Under single window service, we have started providing mobile connections, landline and broadband at the doorstep of customers. They just need to send an SMS or communicate us online about their need. This is first of its kind service in country," MTNL Executive Director A K Bhargava is quoted as saying.

The same services can be accessed via the MTNL website. "Once customer reaches us through phone or online medium, the lead is immediately send to sales team which through their retail network, delivers the services to customers at their premises," he added. MTNL has also launched a toll free number, 1800111503, for customers looking to port over to its network via mobile number portability service.
