Android Jelly Bean's all three
iterations – v4.1x, v4.2x and v4.3 – combined run over 50 percent of
Android devices across the world. According to Google's updated platform
versions distribution for Android, Jelly Bean runs on 52.1 percent of
devices with v4.1x on 37.3 percent devices, v4.2x on 12.5 percent and
v4.3 on 2.3 percent.
Google's Gingerbread OS, v2.3.3-2.3.7,
is still the second largest Android version with a share of 26.3
percent. Ice Cream Sandwich, v4.0.3-4.0.4, is on 19.8 percent of
devices. Android 2.2 Froyo is on 1.7 percent devices, while Honeycomb,
v3.2, is running on 0.1 percent of devices.
Jelly Bean's 50 percent accomplishment comes shortly after Google
released its next version of Android, v4.4 KitKat. Google hopes new
Android version will help fix the distribution issues, as the KitKat
will focus on low-end and budget smartphones/devices – which would 4.4
KitKat’s adoption rate in the future.
