Rumor is that Samsung will launch a Tizen-based device in Russia in May. Samsung is long rumored to be working on its own operating system dubbed as Tizen, and launched it in the latest Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches.

According to a new report from WSJ, citing people familiar with the matter, Samsung may launch its first Tizen-based device in Russia and India in the coming weeks.

The report says that Samsung is preparing for the launch of the purported device in Moscow in the coming weeks, and should come around at a time when Tizen Developer Conference will take place. Just so you know, the Tizen Developer Conference is set to take place from June 2-4th in San Francisco.

“The South Korean company is planning an event in Moscow in the coming weeks to introduce a smartphone running on the Tizen operating system, the people said. The Russia release would be presented at an event similar to the format that Samsung uses to unveil its flagship devices, one of the people said. The event will be timed to take place around a developer’s conference that Tizen’s backers organized for early June in San Francisco,” according to WSJ.

In addition, the report mentions the handset will also launch in India as well. It also mentions Tizen for TVs is under development as well, but there’s no launch date available at the moment for the Tizen-powered TV product.
