Google has just made available its Books on Google Play section in India, opening up a whole new avenue for revenue generation for its Android platform. The announcement that came through the Google India Blog highlights that the Android users in India will now be able to enjoy access to a catalogue of over 5 million e-book titles.

Of the 5 million or so large catalogue, the Play store also includes thousands of Indian titles, with books starting from as low as Rs. 50 and while apps may have been the major attraction for the Play store so far, we have a feeling that may be about to change.

The introduction of the books section to the Play store makes a lot of sense given that we just got word that the Nexus 7 will be coming to India by June 2013. The Nexus 7, besides being a well-rounded tablet, is also used by many to read books, making the move a very smart one.
