Micromax, Samsung Dominate the Tablet Market
More than 3 million tablets were sold in
2012 with more than 1 million shipped in the last quarter of the year,
reveals the latest report by Cyber Media Research (CMR). Android
dominated as the top operating system following by iOS and Windows.
Moreover, Micromax and Samsung emerge as the top vendors in India, says
the CMR report. To be precise, as many as 3.11 million
units were sold in 2012, while 1.09 million units were sold in the
October-December 2012 period, which accounted for 35.33 percent of the
total shipments for the entire year.
According to the report, the Indian
manufacturer Micromax emerged the top vendor for the 'tablets with
7-inch screen and above screen-size'. Apple and Samsung stood at the
second and third position respectively, in 2012 For the fourth quarter of 2012, Micromax, Karbonn and DataWind emerged as the top three tablet vendors in India.
