Apple wants to revive its iPad sales with reports about the 12.9-inch iPad surfacing once more. Previously, analysts believed that the tech giant has been working on the device for release this year. However, as more supply chain sources offer insight on the production of the company, it appears people will see the 12.9-inch iPad in 2015 instead.
According to a report from Bloomberg,
Apple's suppliers are gearing up for the production of the largest iPad
to be released yet. The production of the device will start in next
year's first quarter with Apple targeting an early release.
As reported previously, the biggest iPad to be launched yet will feature a 12.9-inch display. At present, Apple has only been offering 9.7-inch and 7.9-inch iPads. The move to the bigger iPad is to reconcile the portability of the tablet line to the company's laptop line. It will combine the functions of the two hopefully tapping a different but also larger market share.
According to the Daily Herald, Apple's possible move to the bigger
iPad may be to move away from the smaller-screen sector which has been
becoming increasingly saturated. Google has also been dominating the
sector with more affordable offerings. In fact, Gartner claims that
Google's Android
mobile operating system topped the tablet sector walking away with 62%
market share. By the end of 2013, Apple's iOS and iPads walked away with
36% market share. This was huge down from the 53% market share in
2012. As reported previously, the biggest iPad to be launched yet will feature a 12.9-inch display. At present, Apple has only been offering 9.7-inch and 7.9-inch iPads. Analysts see the bigger iPad appealing to businesses. The bigger iPad can present a more portable option than laptops but more tasks or functionalities than the more common tablets in the market. Apple has not made any announcements about the device yet. The tech giant is scheduled to have press event this September 9 with most sources claiming it to be the iPhone 6 release.
