Samsung has confirmed that the BlackBerry Messenger application will soon be available on the Galaxy smartphones “soon”. The rather puzzling press release from the Korean company says that the app “will be available in the Google Play and the Samsung App store soon and available to all Samsung GALAXY smartphone consumers across Africa.” This press release was picked up by N4BB.
BlackBerry, on its part, is trying to play up the “D” and the “R” novelty factor. “BBM provides one of the best and most robust mobile messaging experiences today. While this is clearly a confusing development, we would consider this as progress, which essentially shows that BBM is very much on its way to Android devices soon. If nothing else, take this as a confirmation that the app is indeed in the works, after months of just hearing about it. And for those of you not using Samsung Galaxy smartphones, worry not, because the BBM app will be available on all Android devices via the Google Play Store.
