Today, YouTube launched a new daily series, YouTube Nation, which highlights the best and most enticing videos created on the video-sharing website. Produced by DreamWorks Animation and sponsored by Verizon, YouTube Nation will be available every weekday at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT.

In a response to the glut of video content uploaded on the website every day, the social video platform created YouTube Nation as a way to identify and showcase the most popular videos, as well as videos that are bound to go viral. The videos are hand-picked by curators who decide which content will resonate with YouTube users, and which content will likely produce the most buzz.
DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg says these choices aren’t driven purely by algorithms and analytics. As quoted by the Huffington Post:

The series, hosted by Jacob Soboroff of HuffPost Live and executive produced by Steve Woolf and Zadi Diaz, will condense the best content seen on YouTube in five minutes.  This includes a rich mix of videos, themed playlists, channel creator highlights and fan feedback. Rather than randomly searching videos online or looking to see what’s trending on morning talk shows, YouTube consumers can now watch the new series to receive their daily dose of popular video content.
